Great Lakes is seeking to engage small business resources who have the capability to dedicate staff exclusively to contact center activities in support Great Lakes' servicing of student loan borrowers; all in a secure environment. Compliance with Security policies, drug and alcohol policies, criminal background checks and federal security clearance with be required of all assigned staff.

Small business organizations who desire to do business with Great Lakes should become familiar with the Dynamic Small Business Search (DSBS) (external site) and the System for Award Management (SAM) (external site).

The DSBS is a database of all small businesses that have registered in SAM. This listing is searched by
both Federal Agencies and Prime Contractors to locate small businesses that meet their requirements.
The only way businesses can take advantage of the many opportunities available in federal contracting is to become properly registered in SAM and DSBS as a Small, Small Disadvantaged, Small Women Owned, Small Veteran Owned, Small Service-Disabled Veteran Owned, or a small business in a HUB Zone business. Small businesses should make sure that they include their full contact information, webpage address, capabilities narrative and references. Great Lakes engages small businesses whose records exist in SAM and DSBS.
The certification status of small businesses in DSBS will be populated by the US SBA and from SAM. The DSBS will automatically review the North American Industrial Classification Code System (NAICS) codes supplied by a firm perform calculations against each NAICS code size standard to determine which NAICS codes the firm qualifies as a small business, based on employment and revenue information entered into SAM.
